There is little to be said about this part of things but when I got into forming a group I had no idea the amount of back end prep was needed to go into it. Of couse there are the normal things like taking auditions and having a system in place to make good decisions about who can join. However since I want to make multiple groups that can grow together there is something tro be said for preparedness. I wan to make sure I have a system at least somewhat down in order to deal with people if something were to happen. Situation that might not ever occur BUT might.
I may be overthinking it but there is something to be said for actually being prepared. for example while I can source music and make edits and know how to deal with the algorithm on different websites, where will I find an artist, and if there is an artist available, will that artist want to be partnered into that group? that is just one of the many questions I make to myself. because while people might not care too much about music they definitely care about visuals ESSPECIALLY in the vtuber community. I was asking myself that If every group has 1 artist the group itself can be self sustaining and have an art style all to its own. what is that group member doesn't want to pull that kind of weight? I HAVE TO find an artist that A is available and B is cheap enough to make art pieces for that group. This is, however, standard practice and I don't think that it in many aspects the fly by night preditory "vtuber agencies" understand how daunting this task actually is. They think "well if I take 5% and just SAY I'm providing X, Y, and Z than its easy money." When in reality I've had 2nd thoughts about even making an open call to people and rescinding the thought, because its a lot of work that I'm about to throw onto myself that, while I'm ready, is very frightening. I know the name Booba will have a certain expectation and people will see that and expect to easily get in if they have wobble and bobble. I, however, as I have seen its rather pointless if personality isn't there. Too many a time have I lurked on a debut and just ran into a scuff storm with a rocking body of a model but they are monotone and lifeless to the point of absurdity. Vetting is what I'm getting at. I point back to the earlier "vtuber agencies" that think that just because this model has a beautiful body that that alone will line their pockets and will forego the most important part of their job is vetting. What if that person is toxic? What if they hav an ego about themselves? Do they care about their group members? So many things to consider.
Nepotism is also a thing I highly considered to be a thing. which I think as a community we just saw. While I don't want to name names I do believe that having applications open for so long only for a friend to get announced means you weren't really looking. Its also not a great look considering that 2 other members were announced and debuted with no application process. While its great to have friends by your side and people you are comfortable with, there should be a contingency towards friends and random people. By all means increase your roster with lovely people however, it shouldn't be at the expense of the process that you have set up. I'm fortunate that I am not that super close to anybody in the community so I might be able to have a more balanced approach to applications BUT imagine If I wasn't. that would mean ANY petite vtuber would get shunted only HUGE tiddies and no men at all because "THEY DONT HAVE BOOBA." The truth is that while there are hopes that people that I have seen apply to the groups I make. I have the foresight to think that if they don't mend well with the group then I'm probably gonna short list them for a different one.
I also want to see more diversity and I'm not just talking race or ethnicity. I'm actually kinda wierded out by the fact that there is very little in gender diversity when it comes to vtuber groups. Maybe self made ones sure but in larger groups its like "where are my NB folk, where are the dudes" like together! We can preach inclusivity all day long, but I can't think of a more important part of a group leads job then vetting in this department. getting people from all different walks of life and putting them in the SAME SPOTLIGHT. I really am getting tired of people getting left out because of sex, gender identity, race, ethnicity, age or some combination of all of them and other things. Vetting is SO important. Now when I open applications for the "Booba Group" I want people to understand that the decision to do so was, without hyperbole, the most strenuous decision I have made because of the amount or research, questions, and self reflection the had to be done in order to satisfy the checklist I made for the group to be ready. Its not fully ready yet some final prep work still needs to be done but are you ready? cause I -- hmmm... maybe.
